“Guv encroaches democratic space of JK’, Mehbooba warns agitation if divisional status only given to Ladakh

SRINAGAR, Dec 7: Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti Friday claimed that Governor Satya Pal Malik was taking anti-state decisions.
“Governor has been taking decisions, which are against the interests of the state. When Satya Pal Malik was appointed, we expected that being a politician, he would be cautious keeping into consideration of the state’s sensitiveness,” Mehbooba told a press conference at her Gupkar residence.
She said that Malik was “encroaching” the democratic space of Jammu and Kashmir while warning agitation if divisional status was given only to Ladakh.
She said that if Ladakh is given a divisional status then Pir Panchal and Chenab valley should also be given the same status or else local parties will launch an agitation.
“We (all parties) have decided to go against such decision. We will launch an agitation if Governor takes any such decision. Pir Panchal and Chenab valley should also be given then divisional status if Ladakh is giving as these two are far-flung and under developed areas. It seems Governor is not being advised properly by his team,” she said.
