Srinagar freezes at minus 7.7 degrees celsius

Srinagar : Kashmir’s capital city Srinagar on Thursday recorded the coldest night of the season at minus -7.7  freezing the water supply lines in most of the city parts.

After December 7, 1990, when the minimum temperature had dropped to minus 8.8 degree Celsius, the city recorded the coldest night of the season at minus 7.7 degree, breaking previous night’s record of minus 7.6 degree, an official of the Met department told local newspaper.

Water taps, lakes, ponds and other water bodies are frozen in and around Srinagar in the morning.
