Article 35-A: Civil Society protest in Sopore

Sopore, Feb 13 : Amid complete shutdown, Civil Society on Wednesday staged a protest against the attempts to abrogate special status of Jammu and Kashmir in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Reports said that scores of Civil Society Sopore members assembled at general bus stand Sopore in order to register their protest over the abrogation of Article 35-A.
During the protest rally they holding placards and banners and demanded immediate dismissal of the petition, challenging Article 35-A.
They said that special status of state is their pride and need to be protected.
Meanwhile the protesters threatened to launch agitation if any tinkering with Article 35-A will be done.
Pertainally, the JRL had urged the people observe shutdown on Feb 13, 14 to protest and resist any move to change demographic nature of Jammu and Kashmir by scrapping hereditary state subject law guaranteed under Article 35-A of Indian Constitution.
