Pistol found near IAF jet crash site handed over to police

Srinagar, Feb 28:  Locals on Thursday handed over to police a pistol they found near the wreckage of an Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jet in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Police sources told news agency that the pistol was found by a minor boy. After his family spotted it, they immediately informed the police and handed over the pistol to them.

A police officer said the pistol apparently was carried by one of the six IAF officers.

Six IAF officers and a civilian Kifayat Ahmad Ganie were killed when an M-17 IAF chopper crashed in an open field in Garand Kalan village in Budgam on Wednesday morning. (GNS)
