Governor grieved over loss of lives in Udhampur road accident

Srinagar, Mar 1, : Governor Satya Pal Malik has expressed grief over the loss of innocent lives in a road accident near Majalta in Udhampur district.

In a condolence message, the Governor has conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls. The Governor directed the administration to provide best medical treatment to the injured in the accident and wished a speedy recovery to them.

Earlier, six people were dead and 39 others were injured after a passenger bus fell into a deep gorge in Udhampur last late evening.

Malik also expressed grief over the demise of Qazi Mohammad Afzal, former Minister. Governor conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for the peace to the departed soul.

Meanwhile, Malik, on the occasion of “World Wildlife Day” which is being observed on March 3, every year, conveyed his greetings.

Governor has observed that the celebration of the World Wildlife Day provides us with the valuable opportunity of raising awareness about the conservation of our varied and beautiful flora and fauna. The celebration of this year’s theme-  “Life below water: for people and planet”, is a great opportunity to raise awareness about the breathtaking diversity of marine life, the crucial importance of marine species to human development, and how we can make sure it will continue to provide its bounties for future generations.

He noted that the existence of wildlife makes a valuable contribution not only to promote and strengthen ecological welfare but also enhances social, economic, scientific and educational aspects of sustainable development.
