Sopore Encounter: one militant killed, operation over

Srinagar, May 18: One militant was killed in brief exchange firing at Hatlangoo area of North Kashmir’s Sopore on Saturday afternoon.

A senior Police official confirmed about killing of one militant in a brief exchange of firing. Arms and ammunition was also recovered from his possession, the officer said.

However the identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained.

Earlier, army’s 22 RR and SOG have launched a cordon-and-search operation at Hathlangoo village following specific information about the presence of militants inside a residential house.

Meanwhile authorities suspended internet services in Sopore town as a precautionary measure in wake of this search operation. (GNS)
