Militant Commanders Are On Target: Army Commander

 

Srinagar, June 10 : Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen KJS Dhillon on Monday expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements put in place for Amarnath Yatra commencing next month.

Talking to reporters here on the eve of Mela Kheerbhawani, the top army official said that, Mata Kheerbhawani Mela, Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and Hazratbal shrine all display the essence of Kashmiriyat. “The brotherhood between Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians is going for decades and these holy places occupy a special position and importance”, he said, adding that the co-operation between all religious sections puts the Kashmiriyat to display. “It is Kashmiriyat at its best,” he said further.

“There is no need to worry about anything. I want to convey it to all that Amarnath Yatra will start from July 1 to August 15 and I assure everyone that Indian army, JKP, ITBP, CRPF, BSF and civil administration are set to conduct the yatra in a safe and secure environment.”

Asked about the situation in south Kashmir districts, Dhillion said there is “no need to panic”.

To a question whether anti-militancy operations will be halted in the backdrop of yatra, he said “there will be no let-up in the operations.”

“The commanders of all militant organisations are on target,” he added.

He was accompanied by Brig Usman, Commander Rashtriya Rifles Sector participated in ‘Ashtmi Pooja’ of Mata Ragnya Devi and shared the ‘Langar’ with the devotees, a defence statement issued to GNS said.

Meanwhile, on the occasion, the Chinar Corps Commander said, “Kheer Bhawani epitomises the spirit of Kashmiriyat and for centuries, it has been the focal point of universality, brotherhood and peace.”

In his message to Kashmiri youth, he said, “For the youth, Kashmir is a place of plenty, give up drugs and guns and focus on your education. Get the spirit of Sufiism kindled and follow the footsteps of the great messengers of peace. Your life will get filled with happiness and contentment.” (GNS)
