Srinagar, Dec 30 : Days after the Jammu and Kashmir administration cancelled holiday on Sheikh Abdullah’s anniversary from this year, the National Conference (NC) stated that it will continue to observe Sheikh’s anniversary every year.

According to the wire service—, the NC’s district Srinagar cadre held a meeting today at party’s Nawa-e-Subha headquarters here under the leadership of senior party leader Peer Afaq.

In the meeting, the party leaders condemned the cancellation of holiday on the anniversary of Sheikh Abdullah and also on martys’ day that was observed on July 13 every year.

“These days are being observed by the people of Jammu,  Kashmir and Ladakh since last several decades and such a decision taken by the administration tantamount to distorting the history of erstwhile J&K State, ” the participants of the meeting said.

The party leaders resolved to continue with the previous practice, saying that the party will continue to observe the day like they had been doing since past many decades.

The leaders also condemned the continuous incarceration of its president under stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) and its vice president Omar Abdullah. Abdullahs along with other political leaders were put under detention on August 5, when the central government abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370) and bifurcated the erstwhile State into two Union Territories—Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

Pertinently, NC held series of meetings from past one week after the gap of five months amid the continuous detention of party’s top leaders. (KNO).
