Anantnag Police arrests bootlegger, recovers 61 bottles of illicit liquor

February 28: Police in Anantnag arrested a bootlegger and recovered 61 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Khanabal Main Chowk intercepted one person who was carrying three bags. He has been identified as Vinood Singh resident of Inyar Sojmatna Magarkot Ramban. Officers at the checkpoint have recovered 61 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.

Case FIR No.  36/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Anantnag where he remains in custody.

Preliminary investigation reveals that he is involved in bootlegging in the area besides supply & transportation of illicit liquor.

General public have lauded the efforts of Police and appealed to continue such drives in future as well. Police has resolved to act tough against such elements.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
