Basharat Hussain is New President Municipal Committee Bandipora

Bandipora, 29 Feb : The Municipal Committee here in this north Kashmir’s Bandipora township on Saturday got a new President Basharat Hussain Najar, who was elected unopposed after Khursheed Ahmad Ganie tendered resignation from the post of president.

Basharat Hussain is a councilor from Ward No. 03 and 06 and has been elected unopposed as President of the Committee while Maqsood Ahmad, who is councilor from ward 12 was chosen as vice president.

He defeated Tahir Hussain Bhat by one vote.

Both President and Vice President were elected in a function organized at Town Hall Bandipora in presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir, DIO Bandipora, officials of Election department and Executive Officer Municipal Committee Bandipora.

Basharat Hussain while talking to media on the sidelines of the function said he will work tirelessly to ensure development in Bandipora. He thanked voters of ward 03 and 06 for choosing him as their councilor.

Speaking on the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora congratulated the newly elected president and hoped that the new Municipal Committee will work for the development of the town.

He urged the members to work as a team in close coordination with the district administration so that the funds are utilized genuinely.

Earlier Khursheed Ahmad Ganie was elected as President and due to some family issues, he resigned from the post.
