Out of 121 people admitted in hospitals only 13 discharged so far

Srinagar, May 11 (KINS) : Already under controversy after death of three pregnant women, Anantnag district has the least recovery rate of COVID-19 patients in Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir has reported over 860 cases of the coronavirus. At the same time, the recovery rate of coronavirus patients has been over 30 percent.
However, the Anantnag as per official figures has around 12 percent recovery rate so far, which is least among all districts of the valley.
At least 121 patients have been admitted to three hospitals in Anantnag district. Eighty eight patients have been admitted to Trauma Hospital Bijbehara while rest have been admitted to GMC Anantnag and PHC Akhora.
However, only 13 patients have recovered so far in all these hospitals. Among them eight have been discharged from Trauma Hospital Bijbehara and five from GMC Anantnag.
Deputy CMO Anantnag Dr M Y Zagoo said two pregnant women were discharged from Trauma Hospital Bijbehara on Sunday. “These were earlier positive for coronavirus and have now recovered fully,” he told news agency KINS.
He said another girl has also been recovered and was discharged today.
Medical Superintendent GMC Anantnag Dr Majeed Mehrab said five patients’ recovered from coronavirus at the hospital so far.
“Three patients were discharged in the last two days while two more were discharged today,” Dr Majeed said.
At least seven areas have been declared as Red Zons in Anantnag district after the surge in coronavirus cases in the district.
There are over 5454 persons under surveillance in the district. While 443 and 150 are in home and administrative quarantine, respectively.
The Anantnag district has already been under controversy after death of three pregnant women in the last two weeks.
On Saturday evening, Masrat Jan wife of Riyaz Ahmad resident of Manzmoo Qazigund died at MCCH Anantnag.
Earlier, 35-year-old Ruqaya, wife of Javed Ahmad from Kharpora-Larnoo village in Kokernag, a designated red zone, died at MCCH, after delivering stillborn twins.
Her body was handed over to the family for last rites. A day after her test returned positive for coronavirus.
While Shakeela, 30, wife of Zahoor Ahmad from Salia village died allegedly due to delay in her treatment at SDH Seer. She was declared bought dead at MCCH Anantnag.
Fearing her samples may be taken for COVID19 testing, the family took the body out of the hospital on a stretcher trolley.
A video also went viral on social media wherein wailing family members were seen carrying her body on a trolley on the road.(KINS)
