Sadia Khan

Sopore, May 15: Journalists from Sopore Baramulla are not allowed to work freely by forces as authorities have failed to provide them movement passes.

“We are not allowed to work freely by security forces who are not accepting our identity cards instead asking for movement passes,” a journalist from Sopore told news agency KINS.

The journalist said many journalists faced harassment at the hands of forces in the last two months.

“Every day we have to beg before security forces to let us go who are asking for movement passes. We have approached concerned authorities several times to provide us movement passes but to no avail,” another journalist said.

The journalist claimed that movement passes have been provided to journalists of Baramulla town only. “Are we not journalists? Why Deputy Commissioner Baramulla is denying us movement passes,” he asked.

The journalists claimed that officials from Information Department and DC office Baramulla have even given media passes to shopkeepers and their relatives.

The journalists have appealed the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to intervene into the matter.
