DC Ganderbal reviews availability of essentials in view of Eid-ul-fitr

GANDERBAL, MAY 18: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today chaired a meeting of officers, service providers and traders to review the availability of essentials in the district in view of Jummat-ul-vida/Shab-i-Qadr and Eid-ul-fitr.

The meeting also discussed various measures regarding COVID-19 lockdown and advisories in the wake of forthcoming festive occasions of Jummat-ul-Vida, Shab-i-Qadr and EidulFitr.

Among others ADC Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, ASP Ganderbal, SDM Kangan, and officers from line departments attended the meeting, besides, bakery shop owners, poultry dealers and traders were also present.

On the occasion, threadbare discussions were held with regard to celebration of Eid ul Fitr, availability of essential commodities amid COVID-19 Pandemic wherein DC stressed for following all the related health advisories in letter and spirit pertaining to the pandemic.

During the meeting the concerned departments were directed to ensure the availability of essentials, uninterrupted water and power supply, in the district during the festive occasions.

The service providers were also sensitized about the precautions that need to be followed for personal safety and ensure containment of spread of coronavirus infection during distribution of food items, products and service delivery

The meeting discussed the plan for providing the services and essentials through home delivery or point delivery system.

The DC urged the general public to adhere to social distancing norms, use masks, avoid religious congregation and keep personal hygiene as a part of routine to be adopted to survive the pandemic.

Administrators of Red zones were asked to ensure home delivery of all essential commodities in their respective areas for facilitation of the locals.

Meanwhile, the DC asked the concerned to carry intensive fumigation cum sanitation drives across the district.
