SRINAGAR, June 2: Authorities have initiated an enquiry against a doctor who allegedly avoided attending an emergency patient in Baramulla district.

District Development Commissioner Baramulla has directed Tehsildar Kreeri to conduct an enquiry into the negligence by a doctor at Sub District Hospital Kreeri.

“BMO Kreeri intimated that Dr (name withheld) has left the hospital without proper permission that too at a time when he was to attend a medical emergency case of a pregnant lady. Therefore the behavior of the doctor is unbecoming and tantamount to indiscipline which warrants strict action,” a letter written by DC Baramulla to Tehsildar Kreeri reads, a copy of which lies with news agency KINS.

An official said the anesthetist left the hospital on Monday without permission from the BMO when a pregnant lady was brought to the hospital and required an emergency surgery.

The gynecologist according to the official could not conduct surgery on the patient in absence of anesthetist and the patient was then shifted to Baramulla in a serious condition.(KINS)
