Madarsa teacher rapes 9-year-old girl in Raipur; arrested

Raipur: In yet another incident of sexual violence against children, a nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 25-year-old teacher at her home in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur. The incident took place on Sunday, following which police arrested the accused Mirrownownews reported.

The accused, who was a teacher at a Madarsa (an educational institution), had been going to the survivor’s house to teach Arabic to her younger sister for last 15 days. Since Saturday, he was also teaching the survivor.

Minor girl narrates incident to parents

On Sunday, he allegedly sexually assaulted the minor girl at her house and escaped from there. Later the child narrated the incident to her parents following which they approached the police and registered a complaint against him, a police official said.

The officials stated that the accused has been arrested. He has been booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Further investigation into the case is underway, the official added.

Another incident

In another incident, a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped after being abducted in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh. The suspect abducted the minor girl when she was playing outside her house in Garhi area on Thursday evening. The next morning, she was found abandoned in a critical condition around 2 kilometres away from her house. The suspect is still at large.

Police suspect that a person known to the child or her family may have committed the heinous act. Police have prepared three sketches, based on the information provided by the people, who claimed that they saw the suspect Mirrownownews reported.
