Srinagar Feb 05 (KINS): Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Budgam have arrested three notorious drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson in a statement to news agency KINS says that officers at a checkpoint established at Chandpora intercepted a vehicle Hyundai Venue bearing registered No JK01L-4445 with three persons on board.
“They have been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Yatoo resident of Sholipora Budgam, Sameer Ahmed Bhat resident of New Colony Agrikalan Magam and Asif Nazir resident of Archendrahama Magam. During checking, officers were able to recover 5gms of Heroin and 120 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Budgam where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” the statement reads.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 24/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Budgam and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” the statement reads. (KINS)
