DAK expresses grief over demise of Dr Khurshid Iqbal


 Srinagar, March 01 (KINS): Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Monday expressed grief over the demise of noted surgeon Dr Syed Khurshid Iqbal who breathed his last yesterday at Narayana hospital Jammu after a brief illness. He was 65.
Saddened over the death, DAK President Dr Nisar ul Hassan prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
Paying rich tributes to the deceased, DAK President said it is a great loss to the medical fraternity and his death has resulted in an unbridgeable void in the field of medicine.
“We have lost a gem of a person in the demise of Dr Khurshid,” he said in a statement to news agency KINS.
“A medical luminary, Dr Khurshid passed his MBBS from GMC Jammu and after completing his post graduation joined as a Registrar in Surgery department of GMC Srinagar. He went to many foreign countries and after gaining expertise joined health services in Kashmir where he worked as a consultant Surgeon till his retirement.  Presently, he was working as a trauma consultant with WHO and ICRC (international committee of Red Cross).
“He trained hundreds of doctors and healthcare workers in basic and advanced life support and trauma management. His contribution in the field of surgery will be remembered for all times to come,” said Dr Nisar.
“Born in Darshipora Banihal area of Ramban district, Dr Khurshid was a man of impeccable integrity. He was a compassionate and empathetic doctor because of which he was very popular among patients. He was a noble soul and always stood a helping hand to the needy and poor. He will be sorely remembered by everyone whose lives he touched.” (KINS)
