International Women’s Day is celebrated as a global day for the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. The 2021 UN theme for International Women’s Day is “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”, highlighting the impact that girls and women worldwide are healthcare workers, caregivers, innovators and community organizers during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

SSP Srinagar while addressing media on the sidelines of the event said that we celebrate the women’s achievements and raise awareness among public about the honour & dignity of woman and her ease of living at work place, in transit to work place or home. We must make it clear that any act of eve teasing or harassment shall be dealt strongly and any violation warrants a severe punishment under law. Our endeavour is to make Srinagar a safe city with regard to the women safety and their ease of living.

SSP Srinagar also added that recently we have inaugurated a 24×7 Women Help Desk and Counselling Hall at PS Women Rambagh, so that any aggrieved women can reach out to police for help in case of domestic violence or in need of any kind of police intervention.“`
