Airports Authority of India calls high-level meet after Jammu drone attack

Jammu , June 30

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has called a high-level virtual meet in the aftermath of the Jammu drone attack. According to officials, the meeting started at 4 pm on Wednesday.

A drone was reportedly used to drop two explosives on the Indian Air Force (IAF) technical airport in Jammu. The IAF installation and Jammu civil airport are interconnected since they share a common runway.

More details are awaited as this is a developing story.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of Cabinet ministers to discuss the security implications of drones. The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, among others.

The probe into the drone attack in Jammu has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Initial findings hint at the role of terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba in carrying out the attack.

Moreover, drones have been spotted hovering over security installations in Jammu on two separate occasions since the attack at the IAF base in the early hours of Sunday. In one case, security personnel spotted two drones flying over the Jammu Cantonment area but could not shoot them down.
