DC Pulwama holds interactive session with Media

 

PULWAMA, JULY 10(KINS): The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary today held an interactive meeting with media persons of the district here.

 

The representative from the print and electronic media briefed the DC about various issues faced while covering events. They also put forth the demand for establishment of the Press Club at district headquarters.

 

The DC assured the media persons that their genuine demands including establishment of the Club will be fulfilled on priority. He said that revenue authorities shall be mobilized for the identification of land for the Press Club.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that media is a significant pillar in democracy for deliverance of transparent and accountable governance to people. He said that district administration is always available and accessible for coordination with all stakeholders who are directly or indirectly engaged in promoting positivity, peace and wellbeing of people.

 

He added that media is the connecting link between the people and government and it is the prerogative of the media fraternity to share responsibility in spreading positivity and creation of good will. He further added that the media has a vital role in countering fake and false news besides highlighting the Govt welfare schemes and flagship programs.

 

He also hailed the role of the media in fighting against the COVID-19 besides spreading genuine information regarding the Vaccination program.

 

Earlier, DIO Pulwama  through a power point presentation briefed the participants about the Media  Policy-2020 besides the working pattern of the Information Department and the contribution of local media in raising day to day issues of the general public. (KINS)
