One-way traffic resumes on Srinagar-Leh highway

Srinagar, Aug 7 ( KINS )  One-way traffic was resumed on Saturday on the Srinagar-Leh national highway.

A traffic police official told  today that traffic was resumed on the highway and today Kashmir-bound vehicles will ply from Kargil to Srinagar.

Vehicles had to ply between 0700 hrs to 1400 hrs from Minamarg, he said, adding that no vehicle will be before and after the cut-off timing.

He said no vehicle was allowed on Friday on the highway, the only road connecting Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh with Kashmir.

He said the UTs of Ladakh and J&K have announced that traffic on the highway will remain suspended on every Friday to allow Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to undertake weekly maintenance on the road, particularly at Zojila pass.

Meanwhile, Srinagar-Jammu national highway, historic 86-km-long Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Poonch and Rajouri and Anantnag-Sinthan-Kishtwar road are open for traffic.
