Cultural Unit Srinagar of DIPR celebrates ‘National Journalism Day’

 

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 17 ( KINS): On the eve of ‘National Journalism Day’ celebrated every year on 17th November across India, the Cultural Unit Srinagar of Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) today organised a debate in Conference Hall of DIPR Srinagar on “Social Media Journalism”.

Before the debate began, a two-minute silence was observed in memory of the well-known journalist Shahid Bukhari who passed away recently and prayers were offered for his forgiveness and eternal peace.

Prominent journalists and media personalities including, Shabir Ahmad Mir (News18 Urdu) , Mohammad Aslam (KNS), Rasheed Rahi (CNS), Senior Journalists Syed Tajamul, Nazir Ganaie, Farzana Mumtaz, M. Afzal Bhat, Shahana Fatima, participated in the debate.

The participating journalists who spoke on the occasion highlighted the role of media which plays a very important role in spreading harmony, peace and brotherhood amongst the citizens.

The media acts as a bridge between the government and the citizens they added.

Syed Shakeel Shan formally thanked the panelists for their expert views on the topic.
