DC/Chairman DDMA Srinagar reviews District Disaster Management Plan
Asks Departments to update Resource Inventory within a week’s time

SRINAGAR APRIL 11:- In order to review the District Disaster Management Plan and preparedness for Disaster Mitigation, Response and Recovery to tackle any exigency, a meeting was held here at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, who is also the Chairman District Disaster Management Authority(DDMA), Srinagar.
At the outset, the DC/Chairman DDMA took a detailed review of the District Disaster Management Plan and preparedness measures for Disaster Mitigation, Response and Recovery to tackle any exigency. The threadbare discussion was also held on updation of Resource Inventory on Indian Disaster Resource Network (IDRN)Portal, Conduct of Mock Drill Exercises, Fire Safety Audit of Hospital etc.
During the meeting, confirmation of decisions taken regarding Disaster Preparedness and augmentation of Stockpiles in 2022-23 were also approved.
On the occasion, the Chairman DDMA laid stress on addressing most critical dimensions of natural disasters by revamping the District Disaster Management Plan and incorporating required mitigation measures and safety precautions to plug in the loopholes to make a real time District Disaster Management Plan.
The Chairman DDMA also stressed on formulating pre-disaster and post-disaster measures plan for timely Disaster Mitigation, Response and Recovery to ensure safety of people and property.
The Chairman DDMA also took a Department wise appraisal of the preparedness to tackle any disaster or natural calamity and role of line Department was also defined in detail so that appropriate actions are taken by the concerned Departments.
The Chairman DDMA also laid emphasis on imparting necessary training to the staff and students of colleges and schools volunteers besides youth from adjacent localities. He said along with emergency management, law enforcement, government organizations, disaster relief organizations, volunteers are a valuable part of a disaster response.
He further said Volunteers can augment a community ability to respond to disasters by providing additional response capacity through different skills and abilities.
In order to update the Resource Inventory on Indian Disaster Resource Network (IDRN)Portal, the Chairman DDMA asked all the concerned Department to upload the disaster related resource details on IDRN within weeks time.
During the meeting, the DC/ Chairman DDMA was apprised that work on Rs 13 crore project for construction of protection bund along Zero Bridge to Pantha Chowk axis to plug in breaches shall commence shortly.
Besides Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Syed Shabir Ahmad, the meeting was attended by Commandant SDRF, Superintending Engineers of R&B, PHE, I&FC, MED, Chief Medical Officer, Secretary SMC, AD Fire & Emergency Services, AD FCS&CA, Deputy Controller Civil Defense, DDMO, Srinagar and other Officers.
Nodal Officer Colleges, Commandant NDRF, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, SDM East, Assistant Commissioner Development, Deputy CEO, Tehsildar South and Pantha-Chowk, incharge State Emergency Operating Centre, Consultant DMRRR attended the meeting as special invitees.
