DGP J&K Sanctions Over ₹26 Lakh in Welfare Relief for Retired Policemen and NoKs of Martyred Personnel

Jammu, January 19: In a demonstration of unwavering commitment to the welfare of its personnel, the Director General of Police, J&K, R. R. Swain, has approved welfare relief measures totaling approximately ₹26 lakh. The relief is extended to 56 retired police personnel and 31 Next of Kin (NoKs) of martyred Police personnel/Special Police Officers (SPOs) as part of the J&K Police’s comprehensive welfare initiatives.
Under the sanctioned amount, ₹10.65 lakh has been allocated to support 35 retired J&K Police personnel for their self-treatment or the treatment of their dependents. Additionally, ₹2.20 lakh has been sanctioned to aid seven retired police officials facing financial distress. Another portion of the relief, amounting to ₹3.15 lakh, has been designated to assist 14 retired police personnel in meeting marriage expenses for their sons and daughters.
In a separate order, the DGP has approved around ₹10 lakh in welfare relief for 31 NoKs of martyred Police personnel and SPOs, aiming to alleviate their financial burdens.
It’s noteworthy that the welfare relief provided is non-refundable. For SPOs, the relief is drawn from the J&K Police Pariwar Fund, while for retired Police officials, the fund is sourced from the Retired Policemen Welfare Fund. These welfare measures underscore the police force’s commitment to the well-being of its personnel and their families.
