Srinagar, May 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to the microblogging site to commend the high voter turnout in the Baramulla parliamentary constituency. “Compliments to my sisters and brothers of Baramulla for their unbreakable commitment to democratic values. Such active participation is a great trend,” Modi wrote on X.
The fifth phase of voting for the General Elections to the 18th Lok Sabha concluded peacefully on Monday with around 59% turnout in Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, and parts of Budgam districts.
“Fractional correction is expected in the percentage figure, as at some of the Polling Stations voting continued even after 6.00 pm and many polling parties are yet to reach Reception Center. This remarkable participation marks a new era of peace and civic engagement in these districts,” J&K Chief Electoral Officer, Pandurang K Pole told reporters.
