SRINAGAR, May 30: Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary of Health & Medical Education, conducted a comprehensive review of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) implementation in Jammu and Kashmir during a meeting at the Civil Secretariat.
Dr. Shah emphasized the creation of a Project Management Unit (PMU) under the ABDM in the Union Territory (UT). He instructed officers to ensure the full implementation of the ABDM across Jammu and Kashmir, urging expedited efforts to establish the PMU on schedule to prevent delays in the digital healthcare ecosystem’s deployment across both public and private health facilities.
Highlighting the critical role of digital advancements in healthcare, Dr. Shah stressed the importance of leveraging technology to enhance healthcare service quality. He directed officers to identify key stakeholders and challenges hindering the adoption of the digital health ecosystem and to develop a roadmap for achieving the mission’s vision.
Dr. Shah also called for coordinated efforts among all officers to improve the digitization process within the healthcare system, aiming to elevate the quality of patient care through technological innovations across the UT.
Nazim Zai Khan, Mission Director of ABDM J&K, provided a detailed presentation on the mission’s various aspects. This included the current status of ABDM in the UT, manpower in the PMU, upcoming infrastructure, targets achieved, and the operational status of the Health Management Information System (HMIS), known as JK e-Sahaj, in public health facilities.
The Mission Director also highlighted achievements such as the Health Professional Registry for doctors and nurses, the Health Facility Registry, the Digital Health Incentive Scheme, and the Scan & Share QR code-based OPD registration service. Additionally, an overview of the Microsite project under ABDM in J&K, ongoing capacity-building training, and information, education, and communication (IEC) activities in all districts were presented.
The meeting was attended by senior officers including the Additional Mission Director of ABDM, the FA/CAO of ABDM, consultants, and other officials involved with ABDM in Jammu and Kashmir.
