Sopore Police Book Notorious Drug Smuggler Under PIT-NDPS Act

Srinagar, July 16: In a significant crackdown on the drug trade, the Sopore Police have booked notorious drug smuggler under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.
Following a formal detention order from the competent authority,police said that Altaf Hussain Yatoo, son of Farooq Ahmad Yatoo and a resident of Chijhama Rafiabad, has been taken into custody and is now held in Central Jail Kot-Balwal, Jammu.
Altaf Hussain Yatoo has a long history of involvement in drug smuggling, with numerous cases registered against him. Despite these charges, he continued his illicit activities, supplying drugs to the youth in the Police District Sopore and other areas within the district, police said.
This move is part of the police’s ongoing commitment to combating drug smuggling and abuse in the region, ensuring that strict actions are taken against such criminals in accordance with the law.
The Sopore Police reiterated their dedication to eradicating the drug menace and protecting the community from the harmful effects of drug abuse.
