Srinagar, August 10:IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi led a comprehensive security review at the Police Control Room Kashmir, focusing on preparations for the upcoming Independence Day and Tiranga Rally.
The meeting included high-level officials such as IG CRPF SOS, IG BSF Ftr. HQR Srinagar, IGP Traffic J&K, DD IB, DIG Armed Kashmir, DIG IR Kashmir, DIG BSF Srinagar, DIG CRPF (North) Srinagar, DIG CRPF SKOR Awantipora, Col GS IS 15 Corps, district SSPs of Kashmir Zone, and other key officers.
IGP Birdi began by requesting detailed reports on the security arrangements and deployment plans for ensuring a peaceful and orderly celebration of the events. The discussion covered all aspects of the arrangements, including potential challenges and their countermeasures.
The IGP emphasized the need for heightened vigilance, particularly during nighttime, and instructed officers to bolster checkpoints and monitor potential threats closely. He stressed the importance of maintaining extra vigilance in preparation for Independence Day celebrations and ensuring the implementation of joint security measures.
IGP Birdi called for the establishment of 24×7 special checkpoints at key locations, including entry and exit points of the city. He also directed officers to increase night patrols in vulnerable areas. The IGP highlighted the importance of a smooth execution of the events and urged officers to stay alert to disrupt any threats to security.
