Bandipora residents struggle with persistent power outages

Adil Abdullah
Srinagar, Oct 14 (KINS): Residents of various parts of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district are facing significant hardships due to continuous and unplanned power outages.
For the past week, these power cuts have severely disrupted daily life in the region.
Localities such as Saderkoot Bala, Hajin, Sumbal, Sadunara, Ajas, and others have reported up to twenty outages a day, particularly during peak evening hours. The situation is especially challenging for those who cannot afford alternative power sources like inverters.
The unreliable power supply is also affecting students, many of whom are forced to study by candlelight. Inayat Bhat, a local resident, voiced frustration over the lack of action, urging the authorities to consider the plight of those without access to backup power.
Qasim Ahmad, another resident, warned that the situation could deteriorate further with winter approaching, noting that even areas equipped with meters are suffering from these outages.
Residents are appealing to higher authorities to take immediate steps to ensure a stable and consistent power supply in the district.
