Protest Against smart meters in Kathua met with police action

Kathua/Jammu, Oct 15: On Tuesday, police used a minor cane charge to disperse a group of people protesting the installation of smart meters in the Kathua area of Jammu and Kashmir.

The protest, which was organized under the banner of the little-known Jan Jagran Manch, saw several participants, including women, block a road in Kathua town, according to officials.

In response, police intervened to disperse the crowd and restore traffic flow. Five protesters were detained outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office as part of the demonstration.
