Srinagar , Oct 23 ( KINS) : PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has stated that Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) is suffering due to the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, following a deadly terror attack in Ganderbal. The attack, which took place on Sunday, resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including a local doctor and six non-local laborers, who were working on a tunnel project.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the family of Dr. Shahnawaz Dar, one of the victims, Mufti stressed that J&K is bearing the brunt of the animosity between the two nations. She called for reconciliation and dialogue between India and Pakistan, similar to the approach taken by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, as the only way to prevent such tragic incidents and restore peace in the region.
Mufti’s comments come in response to recent remarks by National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, who stated that there can be no talks with Pakistan unless the violence stops. While Mufti refrained from directly addressing Abdullah’s stance, she emphasized that all people in J&K desire an end to the violence and a peaceful resolution through dialogue.( KINS)
