Kashmir rejected Pakistan in 1947 and will always remain with India, says Farooq Abdullah

Srinagar, Oct 25 (KINS): National Conference President Farooq Abdullah Friday said that Kashmir rejected Pakistan in 1947 and will always remain with India.

The former Chief Minister called for an end to ongoing violence in the region, warning of severe consequences if the current situation persists.

“Many of our friends have been martyred, but it has not stopped. And it is happening every year. Those who think they can bring Kashmir under Pakistan’s control are mistaken. Kashmir decided in 1947 not to go to Pakistan and will always remain with India,” Farooq told reporters, according to news agency KINS, while condemning the rise in terror attacks in the valley.

He cautioned against the path of violence, citing examples from global conflicts. “They should see what is happening in Ukraine, Syria, Iran, Palestine, and Lebanon,” he stated, pointing to the destruction caused by prolonged conflicts. “Do they want the same destruction? Do they want to make the poor even poorer? For God’s sake, stop this,” he said, apparently referring to Pakistan.

Addressing security concerns, he emphasized the crucial role of the government and administration, particularly the current Lieutenant Governor (LG) and his security meetings. He expressed his support and said he is willing to contribute to peace efforts if invited to discussions.

He assured that the people of Kashmir would continue to resist any threats, saying, “If there are attacks, we will fight them. I have never been scared, and we will continue to defend our land.” (KINS)
