Srinagar, Oct 27 (KINS): Jammu’s e-autos and e-rickshaws, part of the Jammu Smart City Project, received the ‘Award of Excellence in Urban Transport’ at the 17th Urban Mobility India Conference and Expo 2024 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The award, presented by Union Minister ML Khattar, recognized the project for its innovative financing mechanisms.
Dr. Devansh Yadav, CEO of the Jammu Smart City Project, and his team highlighted the socio-economic benefits of this initiative, which has created jobs and reduced dependence on traditional fuels, aiding around 800 low-income families.
Yadav emphasized the project’s goals: providing affordable end-mile connectivity, promoting pollution-free transport, and enhancing job opportunities. The FAME-II subsidy makes e-vehicles more affordable, with Jammu Smart City Limited offering up to Rs 74,000 for e-autos and ₹58,000 for e-rickshaws, reducing costs by 25-30%.(KINS)
