MLA Tanvir Sadiq stresses importance of sports for youth in J&K

Srinagar, Nov 02 (KINS): A senior leader from the National Conference (NC) and Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), Tanveer Sadiq highlighted how important sports are for the future of young people in Jammu and Kashmir.
The MLA presented the Champions Trophy at the 2024 Champions Trophy Cricket Tournament, which was organized by the Cricket Fraternity of Dalgate. He praised the players for their enthusiasm and hard work.
“The energy and talent we saw today remind us that sports should be a way of life,” the MLA said to the crowd. He mentioned that under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s leadership, the government is focused on encouraging sports as a positive option for youth, especially to help fight against drug abuse.
The NC leader pointed out that the government is committed to providing chances and resources for young people to participate in sports throughout the region. “We will make sure every young person in Jammu and Kashmir gets the support they need to play sports,” he stated, highlighting the goal of promoting a healthier, more active youth.
The MLA also thanked the Cricket Fraternity of Dalgate and its Chairman, Firdous Bazaz, for organizing the tournament and for their ongoing support of local athletes. “Thank you to the Dalgate fraternity and Chairman Firdous Bazaz for hosting such a fantastic event and encouraging our young athletes,” he said.
The event drew a large crowd, with many spectators cheering for the players, showing the increasing love for cricket and other sports in Jammu and Kashmir. Through similar events, the government, along with local sports groups, aims to channel the energy of youth into positive sports activities.(KINS)
