Srinagar, Nov 4 (KINS): Speaker Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather Monday promised
a non-partisan approach to presiding over the Legislative Assembly.
Addressing the House after being elected as Speaker of the House, Rather said he has a political career of 50 years with the National Conference.
“I have been with NC for the last 50 years, but I do not represent any political party in this House,” he stated, assuring the legislators there would be no room for favoritism under his watch. “There won’t be any partisan conduct. I intend to run this House with honesty and integrity,” he said, according to news agency KINS.
The Speaker stated his commitment to fair governance, pledging that he would not impose his own terms on others. Instead, Rather called on all members to contribute to productive discussions and focus on the needs of their constituents.
“I am here to serve as a custodian of the House, not as an enforcer of any particular ideology,” he said.
“Our responsibility is to make the administration accountable and to create a healthy, constructive atmosphere in the House.” (KINS)
