Jammu Crime Branch constable and two wives arrested with heroin and cash in major drug bust

Jammu , Nov 07 : In a significant anti-drug operation, Jammu police arrested constable Parwaiz Khan from the Crime Branch and his two wives, Nargis Bhat and Parveen Akhtar, after a raid on their home in Janipur on November 7. The raid led to the seizure of 33 grams of heroin, locally known as chitta, over ₹2.5 lakh in cash, 22 mobile phones, a weighing machine, and materials commonly used for packaging narcotics.

According to police sources, Khan and his wives were allegedly involved in preparing and selling small packets of heroin targeting young locals. Acting on intelligence reports, police conducted the raid at Khan’s residence, uncovering what they described as an organized drug-selling operation. Khan, who was posted in the Crime Branch, has been suspended following his arrest, and the Janipur police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The investigation has also expanded to examine Khan’s financial holdings, as authorities suspect that his two houses and other significant assets in Janipur may have been acquired through proceeds from illegal drug activities. Police have stated they are taking steps to freeze any assets suspected to be linked to these activities.

This arrest underscores Jammu police’s “zero-tolerance” stance toward drug trafficking and abuse, emphasizing their commitment to curbing narcotics circulation and protecting vulnerable youth in the region.
