Srinagar, Nov 11 (KINS):Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Monday arrived in Civil Secretariat Jammu amid grand reception while all ministers of his council were seen seated in their office chambers. Omar move to reach Jammu amid clamour for restoration of Darbar Move is seen as a major step of National Conference to let people of Jammu feel governance at door steps.
Signalling that Omar means business, Omar’s advisor Nasir Aslam Wani said that the government has to work in Kashmir as well Jammu. “Jammu people have equal share in the governance as that of Kashmir. Today’s development was to end the hybrid system where some officers were seen in Kashmir and some in Jammu. So to create an atmosphere of work, the Chief Minister decided to give a message to the people of Jammu that he was there for them,” Wani told news agency KINS.
Sources in the NC said that Omar will meet public delegations from various parts of Jammu, listen to their issues and also take steps to resolve their issues. “In the coming days, you will see Omar will set the ball rolling along with his team,” the sources said.
The Ministers of Omar’s council, that include Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, Health, Education Minister Sakinta Itoo, Agriculture Minister Javaid Dar and others were seen working from their respective office chambers.
Omar’s move to shift to Jammu comes amid growing clamour that Darbar Move may be restored. LG Manoj Sinha had done away with the age-old practice of Darbar Move on the pretext that it was an unnecessary burden on the J&K’s exchequer. However, the National Conference in its manifesto has promised restoration of Darbar Move for the benefit of people of both regions, besides economic prosperity of Jammu region. If not this year, sources in the NC said from next year, Darbar Move will be restored.
The Omar led government reversed the LG Administrations’ uniform academic session and restored the November-December session for Class 1 to 9 from March-April. The Government is also set to restore the autonomy of SKIMS Soura—(KINS)
