Srinagar, Nov 20 (KINS): Srinagar experienced its first sub-zero temperature of the season, recording a chilly -0.7°C.
As the cold tightened its grip, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar as per news agency KINS said that Shopian registered an even sharper drop to -3.9°C, while Pahalgam recorded a frigid -3.7°C.
Authorities have also intensified preparations to ensure uninterrupted power and heating supplies to combat the winter challenges.
In the last few days a significant drop in minimum temperatures has been recorded across several stations in the Kashmir division and a few stations in the Jammu division.
The Met department has provided a detailed forecast: November 20–23: Generally dry weather is expected across Jammu and Kashmir until the evening of November 23.
November 24: Light rain and snow in the higher reaches of Kashmir and isolated areas of Jammu Division are anticipated during the late-night hours of November 23 through the forenoon of November 24.
November 25–30: The weather is expected to remain predominantly dry during this period.
Authorities have advised travelers to plan their trips cautiously, particularly in view of the anticipated light rain and snow on November 24. Proper winter gear and adherence to local advisories are strongly recommended for those venturing into high-altitude areas.(KINS)
