Srinagar, Nov 27 (KINS): The absence of a basic health center in Dalri Rafiabad Baramulla has left residents in a daily battle for survival, with the sick and pregnant women bearing the heaviest burden.
Forced to undertake exhausting and risky journeys of over five kilometers, often on makeshift carts, villagers have no choice but to risk their lives to access even the most basic medical care.
For decades, Dalri’s residents have lived in hope, waiting for the promise of healthcare to reach their village. Yet, their hopes remain unfulfilled.“When someone falls seriously ill, our only option is to carry them on carts through rough terrain. Pregnant women face the worst,” lamented a local villager.
Expectant mothers in Dalri face unimaginable hardships. Many are forced to deliver their babies at home due to the impossibility of reaching the hospital in time.
The lack of timely medical attention is not just a health risk but a matter of life and death for many.
Villagers told news agency KINS that for years, they have petitioned authorities to establish a primary health center in their area, but their appeals have gone unanswered.
“How long will we be left to fend for ourselves like this?” asked an elderly villager. “Healthcare is a basic human right, yet we are denied even that.”
Women, in particular, are voicing their anguish. “Our children and families deserve better. We are tired of being ignored,” said a local mother, her eyes filled with tears.
In a desperate move, the residents have appealed directly to Health Minister Sakina Itoo, urging her to visit Dalri and witness their plight firsthand. They have demanded the immediate establishment of a primary health center to alleviate their suffering.
“This is not just about convenience; it’s about survival,” emphasized a community elder. “We need action now, not years from now.”(KINS)
