Srinagar, Dec 03 (KINS): The people of Dardkote Ward No. 01 in Uri are struggling due to the terrible condition of their road, built under the PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana) scheme.
Once an important link for the village, the road is now full of problems, making it hard for people to walk or drive. Rain makes the road slippery and dangerous, and the coming winter will only make things worse.
Residents say the PMGSY department sent machinery to fix the road recently, but the workers were not given clear instructions. As a result, the work was left incomplete. The most damaged parts of the road are still in bad shape, and the drainage system was never finished. Without proper drainage, water collects on the road, causing even more trouble.
The broken road is affecting everyone. Cars, buses, and trucks can barely pass through, forcing people to cancel trips. Villagers are finding it hard to reach schools, markets, and hospitals, making daily life very difficult.
With snow expected soon, locals fear the road will become completely unusable. Despite repeated complaints, no action has been taken by the authorities, leaving residents frustrated and hopeless.
The villagers are now urging the PMGSY department and local administration to take immediate action. They want the road repaired and the drainage system completed as soon as possible.
“A proper road is not a luxury; it’s a basic need,” said one resident. “We’ve heard enough promises. It’s time for real action to solve our problems.”
The residents hope the authorities will listen to their plea and take steps to fix the road, bringing much-needed relief to the village.(KINS)
