Reviews PDD’s winter readiness, unveils monitoring tool to streamline power curtailments in J&K
Srinagar, Dec 04 (KINS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized the importance of minimizing distress power cuts and ensuring transparent curtailment schedules during a comprehensive review meeting of the Power Development Department (PDD) at the Civil Secretariat on Wednesday.
Stressing the need for public trust in announced schedules, the Chief Minister said, “Deviations from curtailment plans must be kept to an absolute bare minimum. Planned cuts are tolerable, but unexpected outages disrupt daily life and erode trust.”
The meeting reviewed winter readiness, power supply challenges, revenue realization, and ongoing projects. Officials presented strategies to tackle Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses and enhance efficiency.
On the occasion, CM Omar Abdullah launched the Monitoring of Load Curtailment Programme (www.LPJK.in), a new tool aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in curtailment schedules across Jammu and Kashmir.
Key officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Principal Secretary PDD Rajesh H. Prasad, and Kashmir-based officers (joining virtually), participated in the session. Abdullah urged strict monitoring of power curtailments to provide a reliable supply while safeguarding consumer interests.(KINS)
