Omar Abdullah hopes MP Aga Rahullah will protest for Statehood in Parliament

KINS Correspondent
Srinagar, Jan 2 (KINS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday expressed hope that Member of Parliament Syed Aga Rahullah will advocate for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood in the upcoming Parliament session.
Referring to a recent protest led by the MP outside his residence over reservation issues, Omar said, “It is good that MP Aga Rahullah protested. I now hope he will lead a similar protest outside Parliament for the restoration of statehood.”
The Chief Minister, according to news agency KINS, acknowledged that the MP’s protest was conducted under the democratic framework upheld by his government. “Earlier, protests were considered illegal. We respect democratic rights,” Omar said.
He further informed that a cabinet subcommittee has been formed to address the reservation issue. “I assured a student delegation that a solution will be found within six months. The High Court is also hearing the matter. Our priority is to protect local jobs; otherwise, outsiders will take these opportunities,” he added. (KINS):
