No respite from rain, snow in J&K until March 16; dry spell expected thereafter

KINS Desk

Srinagar, March 13 (KINS): The Meteorological Department has predicted continued spells of light to moderate rain across Jammu and Kashmir until the afternoon of March 16, with snowfall expected over higher reaches.

A Meteorological official told KINS that intermittent rain and snow are likely at most places until March 15, while March 16 may witness light precipitation in some areas during the morning, followed by an improvement in weather conditions by the afternoon.

From March 17 to 24, the weather is expected to remain generally dry, though cloud cover may persist on March 19.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid avalanche-prone and sloping areas due to the risk of landslides, mudslides, and falling rocks. Travelers, tourists, and transporters have been advised to adhere to official advisories, while farmers have been asked to suspend agricultural activities until March 16.(KINS)
