Sakina Itoo assures support for HDF employees

Srinagar, Apr 3 (KINS): Minister for Education, Health, and Social Welfare Sakina Itoo has assured that the concerns of employees dependent on the Hospital Development Fund (HDF) will be addressed if financial allocations are increased.

Speaking to reporters, Itoo emphasized that the HDF is a locally managed fund, and allocations are determined by the resources available to the department.

“HDF is a local fund. Whatever is available to the department is given to workers. If funds increase, things will get better accordingly,” she stated in response to questions about the government’s strategy to tackle unemployment among HDF-dependent employees.

The HDF, established to enhance healthcare services, has come under scrutiny due to financial constraints affecting workers relying on its allocations. Itoo reiterated that an increase in funds would create more opportunities to support these employees.

When asked about the agenda of an upcoming meeting chaired by Chief Minister and party Vice President Omar Abdullah, Itoo refrained from sharing details. “I cannot reveal the agenda, but it is a routine meeting by our leader Omar Abdullah to discuss prevailing issues with the members,” she said.(KINS)
