BJP defends LG’s transfer orders, Slams NC for Political Confrontation
Jammu, April 4 (KINS): Leader of the Opposition (LoP) and senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma on Friday defended Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s decision to transfer 48 middle-rung bureaucrats in Jammu and Kashmir, criticizing the National Conference (NC) government for questioning the move. Sharma asserted that the LG acted within his constitutional jurisdiction and accused NC of trying to create unnecessary political friction.
Addressing the media, Sharma dismissed the criticism, stating:“Under the Act, all transfers related to law and order fall under the LG’s purview. These transfers are routine and in accordance with the law.”
He also accused the NC of treating Jammu and Kashmir as its personal fiefdom for decades and failing to accept that the region is now a Union Territory governed under a new administrative structure.
“That era is over. J&K is now a Union Territory, like Puducherry and Delhi, and is governed accordingly,” Sharma said.
Sharma further targeted the NC government over its unfulfilled electoral promises, highlighting key issues:Electricity: “They promised 200 units of free electricity, but have failed to deliver.” Ration Scheme: “Their ration scheme is only for two years, yet they falsely claim it will last five.”
Statehood Demand: “Their demand for statehood is not about public welfare but a ploy to regain control over transfers and industries.”
Sharma also condemned the alleged manhandling of former minister Harsh Dev Singh at Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary’s residence, calling it a sign of the NC government’s frustration.
Meanwhile, J&K BJP chief Sat Pal Sharma, who was also present at the briefing, announced that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Jammu and Kashmir from April 6 for a three-day tour.
“He will review the security situation and chair high-level meetings during his visit,” Sat Pal Sharma said.(KINS)
