ADGP Armed J&K Inaugurates Inter-Battalion Sports Meet–2025 with Grandeur at Gulshan Ground, Jammu

JAMMU, Apr 21 (KINS): In a spirited display of camaraderie and competitive zeal, Anand Jain, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (Armed), J&K, officially inaugurated the Inter-Battalion Sports Meet–2025 today during a grand opening ceremony held at Gulshan Ground, Jammu.

Addressing the gathering, ADGP Jain extended a heartfelt welcome to all participating contingents from 34 Armed Police units and lauded the meticulous planning behind the event’s execution. As Chairman of the five-day sports meet, he praised the officers and organizers for their commitment and teamwork in setting the stage for a successful event.

The meet features 34 participating units—18 from Kashmir and 16 from Jammu—competing across 40 disciplines, including events exclusively for Gazetted Officers. In his address, Shri Jain emphasized the deeper significance of the event, stating, “Today, we are not merely inaugurating a sports competition but celebrating strength, spirit, and solidarity—the core values of our Police Parivar.”

Recalling the memorable conduct of the 2021 edition held post-COVID, the ADGP expressed optimism that this year’s participants would uphold the same spirit with renewed energy and excellence. He also extended greetings to retired and serving police personnel, players, managers, and spectators, highlighting how such platforms nurture friendships and reinforce unity among battalions.

He further appreciated the dedicated efforts of DIG Armed Jammu, Vinod Kumar, IPS, and the Commandants of Jammu-based battalions for ensuring flawless arrangements. Encouraging participants to view sports as a way of life, he underlined the importance of maintaining physical fitness and embracing sporting values in daily routines.

Earlier, DIG Armed Jammu Vinod Kumar delivered the welcome address and provided a brief overview of the scheduled events. He reiterated the J&K Police’s commitment to promoting sports under its Civic Action Programme (CAP), offering athletes opportunities to shine at national and international levels.

The event also featured a colorful cultural presentation by the J&K Police Cultural Team, adding vibrancy to the occasion. ADGP Jain took the salute during an impressive March Past by the participating contingents, setting a ceremonious tone for the meet.

Senior officers present at the event included  Sunil Gupta, IPS, IGP Crime J&K; Mubashir Latifi, IPS, DIG Personnel PHQ; Vinod Kumar, IPS, DIG Armed Jammu; Dalip Kumar, SSP and Staff Officer to ADGP Armed J&K; Manoj Pandita, SSP AIG Trainings/Communication PHQ, alongside other senior serving and retired police officers and commandants of Jammu-based units.(KINS)
