Schools closed in parts of Kashmir and Jammu; KU postpones exams, civilian flights suspended at Srinagar Airport

Srinagar May 07 (KINS): Authorities have ordered the closure of educational institutions in several parts of Kashmir and Jammu regions amid the prevailing situation.

As per officials, all schools and other educational institutions in Kupwara, Baramulla, and Gurez area of Bandipora district will remain shut today.

In the Jammu region, educational institutions have also been closed in the districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch following directions from the respective divisional authorities.

Meanwhile, Kashmir University has postponed all examinations scheduled for the day. In a statement, the university said a revised schedule for the postponed exams will be announced separately.

In another major development, civilian flight operations at the Srinagar airport have been suspended by the Indian Air Force. It is pertinent to mention that the Srinagar Airport operates as a defence airport, not a dedicated civilian facility.

The decisions come in the wake of heightened alert and security measures across India and Pakistan
