Delhi–Srinagar Indigo Flight Hit by Mid-Air Turbulence, Passengers Panic Amid Emergency Landin

Srinagar, May 21 (KINS): An Indigo flight from Delhi to Srinagar with over 220 passengers on board was rocked by intense turbulence on Wednesday evening, triggering moments of sheer panic in the cabin. The incident occurred as Flight 6E-2142 encountered a severe hailstorm mid-air, forcing the pilot to report an emergency to Srinagar Air Traffic Control (ATC).

The aircraft, carrying 227 passengers, landed safely at the Srinagar airport around 6:30 PM, officials from the Airport Authority of India confirmed. While there were no injuries, the flight has been declared “Aircraft on Ground” (AOG), meaning it is grounded and unfit to fly due to possible technical issues.

Videos shared on social media show frightened passengers reciting prayers as the plane shudders violently. One passenger, Owais Maqbool Hakeem, who posted about the ordeal on X (formerly Twitter), claimed the plane’s nose and right side were damaged. “It was a near-death experience,” he wrote, adding that security forces restricted passengers from inspecting the aircraft after landing.

There has been no official confirmation regarding any physical damage to the aircraft, though investigations are likely underway.More updates awaited.(KINS)
