May 22 (KINS): In view of the rising temperatures in the Kashmir Valley, Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Thursday announced a change in school timings starting from the upcoming Monday.
Speaking to reporters, Itoo said the decision was taken keeping in mind the difficulties students are facing due to the ongoing heat wave. “Children have been facing inconveniences in this hot weather. Therefore, we have decided to revise the school timings from Monday,” she said, according to news agency KINS.
The minister also directed school authorities to avoid holding morning assemblies in open grounds. “We have instructed that morning assemblies should be conducted indoors instead of in the open to ensure students’ well-being,” she added.
However, she clarified that summer vacations will not be declared immediately. “Students will have to wait for some time for summer vacations,” she said.
The Kashmir Valley has been experiencing unusually high temperatures in recent days, causing concern among parents and prompting calls for immediate relief measures for school-going children. (KINS)
