Home Minister Amit Shah chairs high-level security review meeting on ‘Amarnath Yatra’

Srinagar, May 30 (KINS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra during a late-night meeting held in Jammu.
A senior security official told news agency KINS that Shah chaired the high-level security review meeting on Thursday evening at the Raj Bhavan in Jammu, where he discussed in detail the security measures and overall preparations for the upcoming Amarnath pilgrimage.
“The government will leave no stone unturned to provide all required facilities to the Amarnath pilgrims,” Shah asserted, directing security forces to maintain maximum vigilance.
The Home Minister instructed forces to maintain utmost vigilance and ensure seamless completion of the sacred journey.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha; Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan; Intelligence Bureau chief Tapan Kumar Deka; Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi; Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma; DG BSF Daljit Singh Chaudhary; DGP Nalin Prabhat besides other senior officers of the Army, CRPF, BSF, NIA, intelligence agencies participated in the meeting.
Besides security arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra beginning on July 3, the agenda included deliberations around anti-terrorist operations, anti-infiltration measures amid anticipated heightened activities by Pakistan to avenge Operation Sindoor, and a follow-up of the instructions given during his last visit to J&K.
The annual Amarnath Yatra, one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimages, is set to begin on July 3 and will conclude on August 9.
It is to mention here that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah was on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
The Ministry of Home affairs has already directed the authorities to make special arrangements for traffic movement during the
Amarnath Yatra.
Special focus is also being placed on the condition of roads and facilities along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and trekking routes leading up to the holy cave. “Aggressive surveillance will be taken up on both the routes used by pilgrims – the traditional Pahalgam track running through Anantnag district and the shorter Baltal track through Ganderbal district – during the yatra period.
